DR JOSEPH ECHENDU
ACADEMIC DIRECTOR - IIPELP/EEI
Joseph C. Echendu is the Assistant Director (Academic Studies) at the IIPELP and a World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence Scholar in the University of Port Harcourt. Prior to this, he was a Research Fellow with the Chirota & Emmanuel Egbogah Distinguish Professor at Emerald Energy Institute. Joseph C. Echendu has over 10 years of oil and gas experience in practice and research. Echendu’s current interest is in petroleum/energy economics modelling, life-cycle project design and analysis, policy and strategy research, petroleum fiscal systems design, and stochastic analysis. Echendu has authored or coauthored more than 10 technical papers. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos and Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering with specialty in Petroleum Economics from the African University of Science and Technology.
Joseph C. Echendu is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and currently is a technical editor of the SPE Journal of Economics & Management. He is presently a member of the SPE Soft Skills Committee. Echendu is the recipient of the 2016 SPE Africa Regional Paper Contest Winner – PhD category. He is a consultant and facilitates field development plan and petroleum economics workshops on behalf of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Departments of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporations in Nigeria.
